In mid-August, the President of Toranomon Hospital, Prof. Yasuyoshi Ouchi, paid a courtesy call on the National Cancer Center of Mongolia and observed the hospital. During his stay, he also saw the condition of activity of Mongolia’s JCMT Alumni and confirmed the fruits of the Project through opportunities to meet with the former Fellows.

On this courtesy call, Prof. Ouchi was accompanied by the Secretary General of the JCMT, Mr. Sugi, and the JCMT’s Senior Coordinator, Ms. Kato. Six former JCMT Fellows are working at the National Cancer Center, and many expressed their desire to participate in the JCMT’s Refresher Course. Since new Fellows also hope to be dispatched to Toranomon Hospital, this will be reflected in the future program based on an appropriate selection process. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the mission also made the first visit to the Shastin No. 3 Hospital, which can handle neuroendovascular therapy. The fact that there are strong needs for advanced medical care was confirmed in exchanges between Dr. Yuji Matsumaru, Head of the Department of Neuroendovascular Therapy at Toranomon Hospital, who accompanied the mission, and the Vice President in charge of education, and it appears that this will lead to the invitation of Fellows in FY2016 and thereafter.
